by Philipp de Castro’s Morfema EP is built for the kind of club night where the room trusts the DJ to take it somewhere slower and stranger. The music moves with a downtempo pulse, but the tension never lets up, even when the tempo barely breaks a walking pace.
Modular synthesis forms the backbone, with acid lines that climb into high resonance peaks and metallic polyrhythms that keep the mind locked. A faint vocal choir surfaces occasionally, a human trace against the machinery. It’s a sharp turn from his earlier work as Manycure, and the only prior appearance of the Philipp de Castro alias was the track ‘Elipse’ on Fala Nocturna’s first compilation. The EP doesn’t resolve so much as it lingers.
